Back Door Still Closed to Same Sex Marriage in Texas

Current Events 3 Comments

In Texas voters and judges continue to take a stand for Family Values in Texas.  In 2005 75% of voters passed a constitutional amendment to ban Same Sex Marriages in Texas.

Recently in Texas a gay couple who married in Massachusetts sought a divorce in Texas.  A lower court in Texas granted the 2 men their divorce, but the Texas Court of Appeals overruled the lower court's decision.  If the higher courts could grant a divorce then they would also be forced to recognize the homosexual marriage.

Texas Judge Protects The Family

Dear Neighbor,

A great pro-family victory occurred in Texas recently when the Texas court of appeals ruled the state's ban on gay marriage constitutional.

A homosexual couple attempted to obtain a divorce in Texas after being "married" in Massachusetts.

They were initially granted the divorce by a lower court in the state, but the Texas court of appeals overruled the decision citing that the lower court judge did not have the authority to rule in such a matter.

Not surprising, the lower court ruling came from the same judge who ruled that Texas could not limit marriage to one man and one woman.

What makes this newsworthy is that their "marriage" is not recognized by Texas under the state's ban on gay marriage.

You see, if these men were granted a divorce, it would mean Texas would have to officially recognize their marriage, thereby destroying the state's homosexual marriage ban.

Texas and a handful of other states are leading the fight to protect traditional family values in America.

Surprisingly, even states like California have tried repeatedly to do the same.

And yet, it’s usually one activist judge from those states who overrules millions of voters.

In 2005, Texas voters passed a constitutional amendment with 75% in favor of banning same sex marriage, re-enforcing state laws against it.

We should applaud the residing judge for striking down an activist judge's ruling for her own agenda.
