epa04115540 A handout picture provided by Tienphong.vn shows what is believed to be an oil slick stretching a length of about 15-20 km in the sea off the Vietnamese coast, 08 March 2014. The slick is one of two oil slicks spotted off the country’s coast by Vietnamese search and rescue planes while looking for a missing Malaysia Airlines passenger jet. The oil slicks were seen at 5:20 pm (1030 GMT), one 150 kilometres from Tho Chu island and the other 190 kilometres from Ca Mau cape, Pham Quy Tieu, deputy minister of transport said. The slicks were suspicious, he added, but it was not confirmed they were caused by the aircraft. A major international search effort was underway for a China-bound Malaysia Airlines plane carrying 239 people that is feared to have crashed in the South China Sea.
